A life fulfilled with kindness
Vera, is from Thailand, with a dream to
fulfill...
“Cheer others through food”.
"While some eat popcorn watching tv, in my family we eat fresh leaves from our garden" Vera said proudly while showing me her family's leave’s plantation located in Homestead, Florida.
When she talks about her Thai roots, traditions and typical dishes, her
almond eyes look even bigger!
Vera admires her grandmother, Her biggest passion is her daughter; her best companion is a black cat
with big emerald-green eyes, and her mission is to take care of her delicious thai leaves.
I had the pleasure of trying her food on a saturday morning, in the Fresh
Market at Coconut Grove, and since that day I fell in love with her food.
Vera surprised me with a beautiful table in the middle of her plantation. She offered “miang
kam” a typical thai dish made with grated and roasted coconut, diced red onion,
fresh roasted peanuts, diced fresh ginger, lime and lemon peel, and tamarind
sauce, all served in a leaf.
Her beautiful energy and her kindness was the best nourishment.
Vera opened her doors without really knowing me and
I went to her home without
really knowing her...
She is a woman in love with what she does and a perfect example of
healthy nourishment!
